The question of the Type C USB connector is one to be handled with caution. As a connector, it is simply a conductive component in the system like any other PCB track or wiring. As such, data transfer across a Type C connector is no different to any other connector. However, the Type C name also implies an additional power negotiation element to the connection. It is not the connector that is negotiating where the power is delivered from/to; it is the silicon on the connected PCB. The FT60x series devices will transfer data over a Type C connector. The FT60x will not perform power negotiation to determine the power source. This would be handled by additional circuitry on the PCB.
