Experimental results using the generalized discrete gate drive circuit described earlier to drive a half-bridge consisting of 200V EPC1010 devices are shown here. These are the waveforms for a 100V-to-10V, 7A buck circuit operating at 400kHz. Diode conduction can clearly be seen, while the turn-on time is less than 3ns and dV/dt slew rates are as high as 40V/ns. The use of a driver-stage MOSFET with an RDS(ON) less than 0.2Ω is probably excessive as switching their gate capacitances is responsible for half the total gate drive losses.
