A general rule of thumb can be applied to operating life requirements, where the average operating temperature is low and exposure to high temperatures is limited. A change in capacitance of –30% and an increase in ESR of 100% can be applied. For applications that have high average operating temperatures, long term exposure to high temperatures or a requirement for greater than 10 years operating life a capacitance change of –50% and ESR increase of 200% should be assumed.
