SiC-Schottky-Slide15

However, in CCM operation, a boot inductor’s current only decreases to a certain level below the average current and only reaches zero at every 50Hz cycle. The zero reverse recovery SiC Schottky diodes are the perfect fit for these boost diode applications. SiC Schottkys will reduce boost diode and main transistor switching losses significantly. Because of the low switching peak current in CCM operation, the EMI noise will be much lower. The low amplitude peak current will also reduce electric stresses on all power devices. It is true that the control loop design is relatively more complicated than DCM operation, but the benefits make CCM operation far more suitable for power range applications higher than 250W.
