The Type MLS is available in three case styles, and the MLP, four case styles. Case Style A has a mounting tab on each end and two leads on one end. The tabs are connected to the case and the case to the negative lead. For the MLS the case is connected to the negative lead only through the conductive electrolyte. However, for both the MLP and the MLS the case must be floating or connected to the negative lead in the application circuitry. Standard case lengths are 1.5, 2 and 3 inches, with other lengths available. The capacitance scales with the length minus a half inch. So, if there were 1000µF at the desired voltage in a 3 inch case, a 2½ inch case would have 1000µF times the fraction, 2 divided by 2½, that would be 800µF.
