Three Reasons to Use FPGAs in Industrial Designs Slide 4
A designer working in application areas like factory automation, machine automation (i.e., discrete motor and motion control applications), and process automation, could use FPGAs in products like: I/O modules, servo drives, valves, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and human-machine interfaces/displays (HMIs); computer numeric controller (CNC) machines, printing machines, robots, and mobile cranes; factory automation systems and power distribution systems; and transportation systems like ships, trains, and off-highway/construction vehicles, etc. Motor and motion drive controllers play a part in many of these products and often require a combination of the FPGA advantages that have been outlined.
