The SimpleLink™ WiFi® CC3000 has the same great features as the SimpleLink CC3000 released earlier, such as simple API, low memory foot print, and low MIPS overhead requirement. Being a self-contained solution that hosts most of the software allows it to be used with a microcontroller. This release has software enhancements that enable features such as Smart Config technology which helps ease customer set-up as they integrate a CC3000-enabled device into their home wireless network. Service Discovery provides the ability to display the devices connected to the network and utilize the various commands available for each of them from anywhere. Another enhancement is lowered minimum memory requirements for the host microcontroller, permitting the CC3000 to be connected to an MCU as small and low cost as a value line MSP430. Customers can quickly enable their device to connect to the Internet, or to the ‘Cloud’. TI has identified two partners to best support Cloud connectivity, Exosite and Cosm. Lastly, it is now a module from TI with all the inherent features and benefits previously unavailable through third party modules.
