Internal peripherals can also be power managed for effective current consumption. Here an example is shown using the on-chip comparator of the MSP430F20x1 devices to quickly check an external sensor’s value. The current consumption for this comparator is roughly 45 microamps. In this case, the desire is to power up the comparator, check its status and disable it as soon as possible. Please note that the resistor divider made from the sensor is powered from a port pin allowing direct control over powering the resistor divider, further reducing current consumption.
