There are several parameters to consider when determining the performance of a data converter. First, all converters will have a certain sampling frequency and resolution. Also, all data converters will have parameters that determine their AC and DC performance. The DC parameters are Integral and Differential Nonlinearity error (or, INL and DNL), Offset Error, and Gain Error. The AC parameters will include the Signal-to-Noise ratio, Total Harmonic Distortion, Signal to Noise and Distortion, and the Spurious Free Dynamic Range. These parameters will now be more closely examined.
