Power Inductor Basics Slide 12

The use of magnetic materials inside a coil is a precise and accurate way to increase and achieve better control of the coil’s inductance. Magnetic core materials can also reduce the overall size of the components, minimize the amount of electromagnetic interference generated by the coil, and increase operating efficiency. These are only a few of the most commonly used core structures, all of which have unique compositions of ferro/ferrimagnetic materials including, but not limited to, ferrite, manganese, zinc, nickel, iron, and several others.
