In summary, STMicroelectronics offers, within the S-Touch portfolio, capacitive touch sensing technology as it relates to the implementation of touch sensitive keys. Capacitive touch sensing is based on the detection of the capacitive effect of the human finger when it comes in close proximity of touch sensing pads. Touch sensing controllers have two types of filtering – adjacent key and noise - to enable them to discriminate between a real touch and a false one. There are five types of capacitive touch sensors: key sensors, position sensors, ratiometric sensors, key matrix sensors, and ratiometric matrix sensors. STMicroelectronics has a controller solution for each of these types of sensors.
