Capacitive Touch Sensing Solutions Slide 39

Last but not least, the STMPE16M31 and STMPE24M31 have a built-in ratio-metric engine for use with a ratio-metric sensor which is shaped with the sensor pads overlapping at the edges. This allows determining the finger position based on the exact amount of capacitance measured for each sensor. After measuring the exact amount of capacitance of each sensor, a ratio-metric calculation is performed to determine the exact location of the user’s finger. Also, in the newer S-Touch devices, the data processing of the information coming from the ratio-metric sensor is done inside the device.
