One of Signal Transformer’s biggest advantages in both shielded and un-shielded power inductors is the number of different component heights or different profiles with wide electrical characteristics (inductance and current), are offered in the same mounting footprint. For example: a design starts with the selection of low current inductor and a change is required, to a higher current rating. The engineer can simply pick another part and most likely will be able to keep the same footprint as the original choice. No need to rework the PCB layout.
