Another key attribute that helps determine the right selection for the SMD Inductor is the “Temperature Rise Current”. As current passes through the magnet wire, the coil that makes the inductor, the component temperature rises. This temperature rise current parameter shows the DC current that will cause a 40°C  rise over the initial 25°C ambient. Typically it takes a higher current to increase a lower value inductor by 40°C and conversely it takes less current for the higher value inductor. This is primarily due to the DC resistance of the inductor.
