Before choosing the right LED for the application, there are some questions that the customer has to consider. The engineer will explain the details on the next slides but here is an overview of the most important questions. Through-Hole LED versus Surface Mount Technology. What are the optical power requirements? Depending if the customer wants to record video or just frames, one would like to operate the LEDs in constant current or in burst/pulse mode operation. The beam angle defines if the customer wants to illuminate a large field of view or if one would rather focus on objects far away. Finally, the size of the device is defined by the available space in the project.
