Although many packages look the same on the outside, they might have different versions with different chips on the inside. The customer will find an outline of the different ordering codes for different chip sizes here, but the engineer wants to point out that a larger chip will carry a higher cost and also higher efficacies at comparable currents. Larger chips are also specified for higher maximum currents as well. In the 1000 µm chip class, ams OSRAM also has different versions depending if the customer needs high DC currents or fast-switching high burst currents.
