Product List
Fourthly, depending if the customer wants to record video or just frames, one would like to operate the LEDs in constant current or in burst/pulse operation mode. ams OSRAM has different products for both operation modes. As mentioned before, through-hole LEDs can still be utilized if the customer uses the LED in pulsed mode only. This means that the customer sends a relatively high amount of current to high light output, but only for bursts well below 1 millisecond (ms). In the datasheets, the customer can find the maximum current derated with the pulse length. If the customer is using a camera recording video, one probably will have to look for the DC operation at high currents. ams OSRAM offers LEDs that can be driven on DC up to 2 A. They are called OSLON and SYNIOS and will be outlined later. If the customer is just recording individual frames or if one is not working with cameras but with photodiodes, one might probably want to use pulse mode since this usually allows much higher currents and therefore light output within the time frame in which one is using the sensor or camera.
