The SMDJ58CA can be considered for even higher surge resistibility protection in this application. The fuse may not be needed if the data lines are fused. However, adding these fuses provides power supply protection. For the PD (Powered Device) end, the equipment must be compatible with both Mode A and Mode B powering, thus both TVS components, that are required, must also be compatible. For the PSE (Power Supply End), it defines whether it is Mode A or Mode B, so only one TVS would be needed unless it is PoE++ that uses all wire pairs for power delivery.
