A block diagram of a battery-powered motor control system is shown on this slide. The individual blocks include a battery, a voltage sequencer and an MCU. The MCU sends out PWM signals to the bridge drivers, which in turn drive the BLDC motor. Other blocks include the speed torque circuit which controls motor speed and its direction. This block, a motor control loop, monitors the motor and makes whatever corrections necessary in order to maintain the speed and position of the motor. Manufacturers are looking at new features for next generation products, including a transceiver, which allows communication for control in the assembly line, and a biometric controller used for safety and theft protection.
