The 6EDL7141 is a fully configurable 3-phase smart gate driver that can be used with brushless DC or permanent magnet synchronous motor drive systems. It is designed to operate in conjunction with a microcontroller such as one from the Infineon XMC1400 series. Taking a closer look at some of its features, the optimized structure accommodates several functions in a small package. It can operate in multiple PWM modes, which allows for more flexibility. Plus, it has an integrated DC to DC synchronous buck converter and low-dropout linear voltage regulator. The 3-phase half-bridge gate driver is configurable, as are the precision current sense amplifiers which protect the device from overcurrent. Furthermore, the customer can choose between different braking modes. All these configurations can be set via an advanced microcontroller interface which can also store them permanently with the built-in one-time programmable memory.
