In other applications such as high-flying aircraft, as atmospheric pressure is reduced, an unsealed switch will experience an increase in arc energy and a slight reduction of dielectric properties. Under some conditions, it may be necessary to reduce the current rating to maintain the same switch life. Shock and vibration are also variables that can impact switch performance. To help assure adequate switch life, it is wise to test the switch under conditions simulating those of the actual application environment.
