improving transient response
The classical brute-force approach to reducing transient response deviation is to add external capacitance. Unfortunately, this also has the effect of reducing the gain bandwidth. Essentially, adding capacitance provides a greater source of energy for load transients, but also causes the circuit to respond slower and potentially become unstable. This is demonstrated in the red transient deviation. The amplitude is reduced, but at the cost of a slower response with more ringing.
