Slew rate control allows a switch to be turned on in a controlled fashion as not to overload the source voltage which may introduce droops or transients that would be detrimental to system behavior. Inrush currents are a combination of the capacitive load and needed system load current (I_Load). The controlled V_OUT slew rate as shown on the right limits peak currents preventing a drop in V_IN and mitigating the peak current.
