This example is to supply 1.5A of current with a 10% margin. The equations in the red box can be solved to make a determination of the RLimit resistor that would always supply the minimum current. The exercise is repeated based on a standard E96 resistor. The minimum current has been met but take care the maximum does not exceed 2.5A given the starting requirements. The last exercise is to make a determination of the impact of COUT. The idea is to make sure the capacitor will charge during the blanking period. In this case the capacitor does charge properly allowing the use of the A type device if desired. In a system setting the starting load and stray capacitance will also need consideration.
