Microcontrollers are a core business of Microchip. From 8-bit AVR to the new ARM® Cortex™-A5-based SAMA5D3, Microchip has a great microcontroller portfolio that can address multiple needs from discrete components replacement to high-end systems running Linux. Microchip is expanding the ARM-based portfolio with the recent introduction of the low-power SAM4L, the SAM4E with Ethernet, and the 2MB SAM4S. On the microprocessor side, Microchip announced their next generation family based on the ARM Cortex-A5 in February of 2013.
