The powerful AVR core features a Harvard architecture, thirty-two 8-bit general purpose registers, a single cycle Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), a 16-bit stack pointer and a 22-bit program counter. The Tiny, Mega and Xmega devices all utilize the same AVR core and are code compatible allowing code reuse across all families and devices. Customers can maintain only one code base and use and re-use this across multiple projects. The result is much faster development and prototyping cycles.
