Product List
The AVR32 was designed specifically for high speed and low power consumption. This will benefit applications by allowing longer intervals between battery recharges and will eliminate much of the heat dissipation problems associated with high performance 32-bit processors. The AVR32 stands up great when comparing power consumption to its closest competitors. This table list the typical supply current consumption as stated by several comparable devices from other manufacturers. Adjusting the power consumption to the operating frequency reveals just how much less energy is consumed by an AVR32 microcontroller when running. The size of the on-chip SRAM affects the power consumption quite significantly. As a general rule, the more SRAM a device has, the higher power consumption it will have. This comparison reveals that the AVR32 requires less than half the energy compared to several other architectures. The Dhrystone 2.1 results of other microcontrollers were taken from the manufacturer's official documentation. Microchip has not confirmed these results in actual silicon.
