The BayCat is able to consolidate multiple high-bandwidth functions onto a single board. It can drastically reduce system cost, weight and size when used to replace existing multi-board solutions. Shown here are some examples of current customer projects that utilize the power of BayCat’s rich feature set. An industrial control system uses the BayCat to provide automation and cyber security for Smart Grid applications.  These controllers are used to replace multiple legacy systems used on the power grid, reducing overall hardware requirements and costs. This application originally used a first generation Atom processor. The BayCat’s fourth generation Atom processor provides the necessary increase in processing and security capabilities while staying in the Atom CPU family. The BayCat provides the expansion connections to the existing PC/104-Plus I/O card used in the system. Additionally, product security is becoming a high priority for medical equipment manufacturers. In this application the BayCat is replacing an older computer product that is now obsolete. Having the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) integral to the BayCat SBC was a key requirement for this application. This Medical application also requires a powerful single board computer that has a very long life. The BayCat is the perfect fit especially with the VersaLogic formalized life extension programs that can extend the product life as many years as needed. This life extension programs allows the security of knowing that production will continue well after the FDA approval period. Finally, many instrumentation systems require a lower-performance, low-power, and rugged Single Board Computer. Many of these systems are portable that must be designed to take treatment that would incapacitate traditional lab equipment. That is why instrumentation companies look to BayCat for its rugged design and testing.  BayCat provides system manufacturers with a rugged long-life platform with the required performance that is optimized for lower-power consumption.
