KVM Switches allow users to control multiple computers or servers using a single console. A "console" refers to three devices: a keyboard, a monitor and a mouse. Some models feature a built-in console (a keyboard, flip-up LCD display and touchpad mouse). Other models require the user to connect their own console. The console, as the user interface, is at the heart of all KVM Switches. In fact, "KVM" stands for "Keyboard-Video-Mouse." Depending on the model and how it is connected, a KVM Switch can control anywhere from two to over five-hundred computers.
