KVM Switches Slide 17

Remote IP management is already built into many Tripp Lite KVM switches. Although users may have purchased a Tripp Lite model that does not feature remote management, they can add it at any time, to virtually any model. IP Remote Modules allow users to remotely control a KVM switch (and the servers connected to it) from anywhere in the world by using TCP/IP. Perfect for wide area networks (WANs) and can be used to perform a variety of tasks, even with the network down, including troubleshooting, application installs, and rebooting. Includes password protection and 256 SSL encryption. Console Extenders use Cat5 cabling, but they do not communicate over IP. Instead they boost the signal enough to allow users to locate the consoles up to 330 ft. (106 m) away from the KVM switch. This is perfect for applications where the servers are located in one part of a facility, and the network managers are located in another part of a facility.
