LM5017 Synchronous Buck Converter and COT Slide 6
For a number of years, TI has developed constant on-time (COT) high-voltage devices, and they have always required an external catch diode. With LM5017, TI now has a more integrated solution that is fully synchronous, more efficient, smaller, and more user-friendly for the customers. Shown on this slide is the block diagram of the LM5017. As can be seen, there are the two switches (FETs) near the lower right corner, and a high-voltage, 100 V startup regulator that biases all internal circuitry. Also, there is a precision under-voltage lockout comparator, which is necessary for the isolated applications and also for buck applications when it is necessary to stop operation below a certain level. The RON pin is used to set the frequency, and the feedback circuit is a basic comparator. The boost (BST) is provided for powering the high side gate driver.
