The TUSB3410 is a USB full-speed (12 Mbps) compliant bridge. The main application of the TUSB3410 is a Virtual COM port (VCP) (also known as serial port) replacement for legacy-free PCs. The integrated UART is a full featured UART capable of up to 921 kbps in addition to also including support for slow IrDA encode and decode. In many situations, the “system” connected to the TUSB3410’s UART is not a standard serial connection and the ability to program the interface to match the applications is a clear advantage the TUSB3410 offers over the fixed function state-machine based competition. However, for applications that so follow a standard serial interface, the TUSB3410 along with the TI-supplied VCP software solution provide a turn-key solution that requires no customer software development.
