There are multiple 3243 solutions available in the market. Here we’re looking at a direct comparison between the MAX3243E and the MAX3243. The 3243E version offers 500 Kbps data rate, system level ESD protection, while the non-E version offers HBM ESD and 250 Kbps data rate. In applications, the 3243E can completely replace the non-IEC 3243 socket because even with this higher data rate the 3243E is completely backward compatible. The improved edge rate and stronger charge pump of the 3243E provides more noise immunity in the application. We also recommend the 3243E in all new applications.
