Now let’s take a look at TI’s USB transceivers. In this area, our first releases are TUSB1105 and TUSB1106. They are full speed USB 2.0 compliant transceivers. In many microcontrollers you may not have the physical interface integrated. So, these devices can operate as a physical interface for these microcontrollers. In addition to an analog interface, this device provides system level ESD protection and a voltage level translation capability. It can do this because the device has a split VCC supply for the logic side which can go as low as 1.6 V. This device also features an on-chip voltage regulator, which allows it to operate either as an external supply through the USB cable, or an on-board 3.3V supply. As you can see from this application example, this device can replace any USB physical transceiver, and any USB transient suppressor because the device already includes system level ESD protection.
