The presentation will now look at the two-piece wire-to-board options. There are two main categories of product, plugs which are the wire receptacles, and headers which are the PCB mount portion. Many of the options between one and two-piece configurations are the same in terms of wire entry angle, various numbers of levels, various centerline spacing and more. One option that is unique to the two-piece variety are the available locking flanges. These are generally sought after when the end product is going to be in a high vibration environment or in instances where the signals being carried through the terminal block are “mission critical” to the functioning of the end device. There are multiple styles of headers available including full shrouded versions and lower cost, pin strip style headers. These pin strip headers are usually, but not always, used in conjunction with wire protector style plugs.
