Free-hanging, cable-applied plugs and receptacles are produced with IDCs that accept 30 to 28 AWG discrete wire. These cable-applied connectors are intended for use with metal backshells with a choice of spring latches or jackscrew retention hardware or with plastic backshells equipped with jackscrews. Panel-mounted cable plugs and receptacles are designed to terminate 30 to 28 AWG discrete wire or 28 AWG ribbon cable using IDCs.
