Shown here is ordering information for the Explorer kit, which includes the shield board with the VL6180X and also a STM32 Nucleo board. This is a turnkey solution with the Nucleo microcontroller. The shield board itself contains a four-digit display that users can directly read either the range information or the ALS and they do not need an external PC or anything to work with it. This is a self contained evaluation kit, but if users do want to use the PC, there is a PC GUI interface. The GUI allows designers to control the VL6180X, as well as graph the range measurement or the ALS measurement. There is also some STLink tools that are available to program the Nucleo board. These are basically part of the STM32 Nucleo board group and, again, this gives users more control for programming and setting up the device.
