The time required for the VL6180X to calculate an accurate distance is called the convergence time. The reflectance of the target material affects the convergence time. The reflectance reduces the number of reflected photons; therefore it takes a little longer to measure numbers of photons to make sure there is an accurate distance measurement. This graph shows that with a 3 % reflective target, at 10 centimeters, convergence time is below 10 milliseconds. With a white reflective target, the measurements are below 1 millisecond.
