In order to avoid entering in an endless loop of ON and OFF, the channels are not turned on simultaneously, but one by one. This allows the system to restart smoothly after a shut down due to an over temperature incident. In other words, an IPS turns on the channels one by one, with a delay of around 100 ms. Hence, step by step, the total current increases smoothly, minimizing the probability of a new over temperature event.
