Depending on the kind of motor design being used, various topologies exist, such as a DC motor requires an H-bridge if being driven bidirectional and half bridge if unidirectional, a brushless DC motor requires a three-phase bridge, and a stepper motor requires a dual H-bridge. This presentation will not explain how these various topologies work, but ST does have solutions for all these motors. This presentation focuses on stepper motors and the EasySPIN and dSPIN solutions for the dual H-bridge topology used in stepper motors.
