Low power is becoming a major selling point in a wide variety of applications. With today’s emphasis on energy compliance, reducing energy waste, and “going green”, designers must pay close attention to their power budget. The Precision32 family of microcontrollers makes reducing power consumption easy in both sleep and active modes. As shown on this slide, these ARM Cortex devices have 5-100x lower sleep current with 4 kB RAM retention in lowest power modes. They feature wake on pin toggle and wake on RTC using internal oscillator or crystal. The sleep mode comparator and low power timer/pulse counter are among the key peripherals that can operate during sleep mode. The 33% lower active current reduces self heating, eases energy compliance issues, and increases battery life.
