This slide shows an application in detail. A barcode scanner provides a good example of an application that greatly benefits from the Precision32 feature set. All barcode scanners benefit from features such as: the high drive I/O that can directly drive a laser and buzzer, eliminating the need for external transistors; the motor control PWM in combination with high drive I/O to directly drive the motor, eliminating additional external components; the CCD controller which synchronizes the clocking for the ADC and CCD sensor (i.e. camera); the fast ADC that can operate up to 2 MSPS, easily handling the sensor data; and capacitive touch inputs that can eliminate buttons such as the trigger button of a scanner. The USB integration eliminates the need for an external voltage regulator and crystal for USB scanners. The MCU’s ultra low power in sleep and active modes increase the battery life. Finally, hardware AES is provided to encrypt wireless data.
