One of the key advantages in using polymer technology is the realization of pc board space savings and reduction of part count. To show users an example of an output noise filter, Rubycon conducted the following comparison. A single PZA capacitor with the following parameters: 35V, 150mF and a 10 x 13 millimeter size. To achieve the same performance, three pieces of a non-solid electrolytic capacitor with 35V, 680mF and a 12.5 x 30 size were used in parallel to compare. The level of output noise for a PZA capacitor was almost equal to that of the three electrolytic capacitors. Conductive polymer has less characteristic variation with the change in ambient temperature. This results in a lower-volume solid electrolytic capacitor replacing an aluminum electrolytic capacitor having a much larger size.
