There are several challenges for developers that want to add wireless connectivity to embedded systems. There are many decisions that must be made regarding the choice of wireless protocol, the vendors who supply the RF modules or chipsets, where the software drivers for the RF devices can be obtained, and finally – how to integrate the driver and how to configure the RF device for use in their end product. Drivers and configurations vary wildly from vendor to vendor, protocol to protocol, and it takes time for developers to deal with these differences. When the developer uses an SSP wireless application framework, these issues are simplified.
