This chart shows the extensive set of RL78 Development Hardware and Solution Kits available. Please click here for an enlarged image. The red stars represent the development hardware and solution kits available for the MCUs used in the 3 Quick Solutions introduced thus far. The designer may select the type of kits needed for the customer to help them to start a fuss-free development. The CPU or target board is typically implemented with the largest pin count and largest Code flash size in that target RL78 series, so emulation of any target MCU in that series is possible. CPU/Target boards and Starter kits use an E1, E2 or E2 Lite On-Chip-Debug emulator that can be set for either 3V or 5V supply voltage. Promotional boards and Development Kits have much more external peripheral hardware, debug LCD graphics, and direct USB debug interface that also provides 5V power. Solution kits for Application specific designs have extensive on-board hardware to implement motor control, USB charger control, environment detectors, lighting inverter, and Bluetooth low energy communications.
