The I2C module in the LPC54100 is specifically designed for sensor applications. Each of the three I2C ports can operate at up to 3.4 Mega bits per second (Mbits/sec) in slave mode. This mode is especially useful in a system with an Application Processor. The I2C port can also wakeup the CPU on address match when it is operating in a slave mode. This feature is again useful in a system with an Application Processor. Finally, as discussed in the previous slide, the I2C module can operate separately from the CPU clock, further reducing the power consumption.
