Bridge Solutions Slide 4
As MCUs reduce in pin count and System-on-a-chip devices shed their 8-bit bus, NXP provides new solutions for pin limited connectivity. NXP has answered your port expansion needs with our smart protocol converters. Even the most pin constrained MCU or System-on-a-Chip have serial bus connectivity like I²C, SPI and Async. As you can see from the existing arrows, our 8-bit host port solutions include I²C Masters and one, two, four and eight channel UARTs with Async interfaces. If you need multiple I²C Masters for a complex telecom system, the SPI-based device is an ideal way to create multiple “clean” I²C Ports. To summarize what you see here: NXP now offers three ways to make an I²C Master and three ways to make an Async port.
