Configurable and Combination Logic Slide 7

In certain configurations of available logic functions, as with the 1G58, it is possible to select a function that includes an inverter on one input followed by an AND gate. In this configuration, the 1G58 offers a more optimized solution versus cascaded discrete solutions. This type of application will reduce board space, lower system cost, reduce inventory requirements, and may reduce qualification effort and expenses given only one device must be qualified versus two. Finally, the propagation delay through the device is improved since the internal signal path between the two gates is optimized by removing the input and output buffers between the two devices. Therefore, in certain applications, Configurable Logic solutions offer higher performance for critical signal routing.
