Avalanche ruggedness and SOA (safe operating area) are critical for designing MOSFET and system survival, particularly in fault conditions. The graph here shows the Nexperia T9 BUK761R1-40H against similar competitor parts, with current capability measured at two different time intervals. As can be seen in both cases, Nexperia has better current capability than their competitors due to the super-junction properties explained in the previous slide. The safe operating area is shown in the product datasheets to guide designers in designing for fault tolerance. As the Nexperia T9 part has better current capability, it will have a wider SOA than the competition, making the design easier for customers.
