Murata offers three different inductor variations. The multi-layer power inductor embeds the inductor coil on layers of ferrite magnetic material. This forms a very low profile, cost friendly series. Ferrite wire-wound power inductors are a more traditional inductor type which uses a wire wrapped magnetic ferrite core to produce the inductive characteristics. Murata utilizes both round and flat wire technologies to provide high currents, lower DCR values, and higher inductance values among the three classifications. Metal-alloy wire-wound power inductors utilize a metal composite core material to provide the least saturation loss and excellent electromagnetic flux leakage shielding, all within a very attractive size.
